I am about to mount a couple of Ubiquity UniFi AP AC LITE access points on a wall. There is an Ethernet outlet installed so this adapter will mount on the existing wall face plate screws and stand off the plate to allow the Ethernet cable to plug in and come out the slot to loop around and plug into the AP.
At least that is the theory. In a couple of days I may get around to trying it.
The Version 1 is only 20mm high so pre-wired Ethernet connectors will be to long. But if you terminate one without a boot it should fit.
The Version 2 if 35mm high so the pre-wirerd ones should be ok.
I have Unifi running on a Raspberry Pi2 via the following instructions....http://www.lowefamily.com.au/2015/06/09/installing-ubiquiti-unifi-controller-4-on-raspberry-pi/
I had to use the -f option in a couple of places...
$ apt-get -f install
$ sudo apt-get -f install
$ sudo apt-get install unifi -y
It is running :)
When I get it all installed I'll update with some more pictures to show how it fits.
Today (20160229) I mounted it.
First, drill holes aligned with the mounting screws in the face plate if it is a blind cover.
Then mount it all with a short Ethernet cable.
And it is alive :)
I ended up with UniFi running on an OrangePi PC but it was a bit of an effort. Try a RasPi instead.
All together, there will be a couple of UniFi APs in the installation, driven by the Orange Pi UniFi controller, in an old 19" rack mount Ethernet hub case, along with a RasPi PABX, SPA3102 ATA and the old hub power supply. I think the PABX and UniFi Controller could both run on a RasPi 2 or the new RasPi3.
Latest mod to the installation is I've changed to a UniFi Cloud Key for the controller. That works best for me.
