Edit 7/3/2017: Shelf Bracket Update!
I've created a sturdier, "triangle" shaped bracket, which holds the weight of my digital calipers in-box, without flexing as much. I feel like the previous shelf was just too long to be unsupported. I've shifted the older version of the STL files to the end, and the new ones are at the beginning. Obviously, you will need to print at least 6 of the screws (I recommend 100% infill), and the same platform. Oh, and the only drawback of the new reinforced version is that I needed to print each bracket separately because I couldn't fit both brackets on the bed by nestling the hook of one into the bottom part of the other.

*** NOTE: I put "How to Assemble" text in the Post-Printing section below.
This is a slightly adjusted, new-and-improved version of the previous shelf system (25mm width, 140mm length of shelf). This new version is still for a 25mm width desk, but I've extended the arms of the brackets, and extended the length of the shelf to 165mm. This just barely accommodates my caliper box. I'll probably remix it once more to figure out the center of gravity, maybe add a little length to the bottom of the brackets, maybe add another pair of screws, and another set of holes. I'm not an expert, so please, if you have any ideas or suggestions or complaints, feel free to share them in the comments below!
I have a lot of space at the top of my desk's hutch. I used a few headphone hooks for my 25mm top, and they work great, although I wanted a safe place to store my calipers. With space at a premium, I thought to myself "I wonder if I could design a shelf from scratch, that hooks to the desk like the headphone holders, but has a platform?" This is the second iteration of that design.
The previous version worked great, but when I put my caliper box on the platform, I felt like it needed about an inch more shelf length. If the previous platform length (140mm) and width (110mm) are enough for you, great! Go grab that Thing and you should be fine:

This is the newer version of the shelf, which has the same width (110mm) but a greater platform length of 165mm. I've adjusted the brackets a little (they're taller), and I've given a little wiggle room in the screw holes so you're less likely to break the screws if you screw them in to their maximum depth (recommended).
I'm still thinking about making a new, tweaked/improved version of the brackets and the shelf, so the center of gravity is a marginally shifted, but this may "just work" for me.
I made the desk hook part a little longer, to provide a little more "grip." Hopefully this works well for your application.
As with any desk hooks, if these are a little too big, try using some stickers on the inside of the bracket where it contacts the top and/or bottom of the desk's shelf (like a shim). Some of the headphone hooks I've printed needed a very thin sticker (or no sticker at all), while others needed a more puffy sticker (maybe a millimeter in thickness) to keep it from sliding off.
If there's any interest in different configurations - like wider openings than the 25mm, or different size platforms, just let me know. This version scratched an itch of mine, and I finished this iteration in a few days.
