CRITICAL UPDATE 02/17/2019: ADDED Prusa-L2A-Spool-RH.STL and Prusa-L2A-Spool-LH.stl. Found extruder interference at max Z. Cut bottom clamping lip thinner. I have confirmed that these solved the interference. The error showed up due to changes in firmware 3.5.1 that caused crashes and Z re-calibration if the extruder is near the top when starting a print. Alternatively, you can grind or otherwise cut 2mm, .08", off the lower front facing lip of the clamping part.
UPDATE 02/07/18: Added V2 of both parts. Changed the frame grabbing outline. Should be easier to clamp on the frame, but I have not tried it yet.
The stock filament spool holder that came with my Prusa i3 MK3 was a little too bouncy for my taste. So I designed one to use two legs and 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC pipe.
I used Polymaker PETg because it's all I have besides PLA. I used 240C/80C, 15% infill, .30 layers, no support needed. Each one took about 1.5hours. Cut the PVC pipe to whatever length you want. 4 through 6 inches (102-152mm), or about 10 inches (250mm) max. If you cut the long PVC pipe you can hang multiple rolls. It's convenient for multi-color prints. This is tighter than the original. Use your thumbs to evenly push the bottom snap bump on and off the frame. Use even pressure and make sure you clean out the channels if they have a lot of blemishes. The slots need to be 6.3mm+
