Note:
I have uploaded a remix of this design featuring a smaller belt (60x400mm): https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4598219 I do like the smaller size of the sanding block much better for hand sanding. So if you are new to this design, I suggest to print the remixed one instead of this one. But if you prefer a larger sanding block, the design presented here is what you are looking for.
Description
This is a sanding block that uses standard sanding belts 75mm x 457mm. Changing the sanding belt is very quick using the two excenter levers.
The design is inspired by a video from I SIMPLY BUILT IT (search for "The Ultimate Hand Sanding Block" on youtube).
Advantages:
3D printed :-)
change sand paper quick and easy
sand paper fits perfectly
perfectly flat and hard block for precise sanding e.g. of edges
sanding belts are cheap and readily available in this standard size
sanding block can have any color you like
Disadvantages:
Block might be too big for small hands
Might break when falling to the floor (not tested yet - also no testing planned for the near future)
not cheap to print (requires a lot of material)
I have printed the parts using PETG. All parts must be printed with the flat side down. 2 excenter levers have to be printed lying on their side.
Additional materials required:
screws ISO7380:
10pcs M4 x 12
1pc M4 x 20
5pcs M4 x 30

4 washers 6.4mm x 20mm
2 bolts 6mm x 40mm (the same one as ikea uses on their ivar shelves)
OpenSCAD source code included.

Happy printing! - And then please post a Make! Thank you very much!
