The railings are printed in four parts: Base, top rail, posts and the decorative centre part.
The centre part comes in a choice of four different patterns and slots into grooves in the base and top rail. (Note: the bottom edge of the centre part is identifiable by the cut-away corners designed to fit neatly around the base of the posts.)
The posts are octagonal in section, and as the base and top rails fit around three sides of each post, the railings can be joined together in a straight line or at angles of 90° or 45°.
All parts need to be fixed permanently into position with a few drops of superglue.
The railings are 3.8cm. high, and the posts are 5cm. high.
PRINTING:
On my 5th Generation Makerbot all parts were printed at the default setting of:
Layer height - .20mm, Infill - 10%, with raft.
Printing times were:
Base - 16m.
Top - 7 m.
Post (print upright) - 23m.
The patterned centre parts varied between 24m. and 30m.
