I'm no expert in this Palette witchcraft so I make no claim that this is a good calibration print or in any way replaces what has been the standard calibration/learning process.
The benefits I see are:
Focus on simple transition after your pings are good.
Check for color bleed for color sections and adjust to transition length if necessary before starting a long print.
Check for deviation between processes (for me this is purge block vs side purge and hub vs SD card).
There is a 45 degree angle so that you can inspect overhang quality.
Dimensional check. The block is 1" square with each color being 1" square x .200" tall. The center hole is 0.5" in diameter.
Center hole can quickly identify any layer shifts.
Evaluate stringing in the center hole and across the overhang.
I made it five layers so I could experiment with changing filament to get five colors.
5 slices / 5 pings quick and easy print (about the same time as printing the keychain).
Might be a good calibration to run before the earphone holder to see if transitions are good before having multiple colors on the same layer or short distance between splices.
