When upgrading to a higher flow pump (e.g., Walbro, TRE, etc.), or simply replacing the expensive stock pump with any of the myriad of cheap alternatives, you'll likely need a spacing sleeve to adapt the stock pump carrier to the smaller diameter universal pumps and locate it at the proper height. There are several machined aluminum parts available online, but they're quite expensive for what they are (enough to buy 2-3 spools of nylon filament). 3D printing to the rescue! This sleeve should work on the e36 and e38, but I can only personally vouch for its compatibility with the e34.
In this role, the part will be submerged in gasoline, so you CANNOT use ABS or PLA! I printed mine with Taulman 618 Nylon at 245C / 70C on an MBI 2X with good results. Support should not be necessary given the shallow overhang angles. The only difference between v1 and v2 is a perimeter recess at the bottom intended to retain a stainless steel hose clamp if you're worried about it working its way off without it.
