This design uses a standard NEMA17 stepper motor as a 4th axis for a standard CNC 2418/3018. A custom deisgned mandrel serves to hold a ring in place while a standard 30 degree V-engraving bit is used to engrave soft metals such as brass.
For more information you can read my blog post about this project:https://blog.jpoles1.com/2021/02/27/designing-a-4th-axis-for-engraving-rings-on-the-cnc-2418-3018/
Note: In order to edit the original FreeCAD design you will require the LinkStage 3 version of FreeCAD published by RealThunder (https://github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD_assembly3/releases)!
