An insert (red part) for mounting 18650 cells into tubing. First version so I'm hoping for some pointers on making it better. It should have a flange to add some lost strength to the tubing but then it would be visible.
A good amount of epoxy should give the tube some strength back but please consider that this could cause stress cracks or just plain failure if it's not done right, or your not skinny.
I'll put some rail slots along the part now that it can slide in from the end.
Some addional beef could be added along the inside sides of the tubing. It's a new idea and I'm no engineer so know your stuff before tempting fate.
Currently no slots for the contacts.
This one is for 32mm tubing, there is a template (yellow), position the template in place and use a spray paint.
In Orchard, grab the face and drag or push it in to adjust depth of the part, it could slide in from the ends, or be inserted and locked in place.
That's why Orchard rules. Seriously, how many steps would it take with any other method?
And sketch the connector cutouts onto the ends and extrude through for your holes. Drag the sides of a hole to open or close it.
